Chats with Chu Chu

Hi!  I'm Chu Chu.  I wanted to tell you about the great job I was hired for a few months ago at The Insurance Brokers of America!
I graduated with a Bachelor's of Marketing from Woofard University. I have never worked in insurance before, but I'm learning a lot!  Did you know many of our home and auto policies have some kind of built-in coverage for pets?  I was surprised!

I just got this new paw-top computer and I will be posting some fun tid bits of info, social events, recipes and other cool stuff here and there.  So, watch my blog for updates, or "Friend" me on FaceBook!  http://www.facebook.com/chulah.prince

Hope to meet you soon!  I love making new friends!

Chu Chu's "Make Me Beg" Biscuits

Like any girl, I love it when my family brings goodies to me.  But I understand that the gourmet home-baked goodies can be a bit pricey.

So....save some dough and make them  for your four-legged friends at home!

I bet you already have most of the ingredients in your pantry!

Just round up the following!

1 1/8 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/8 cup  unbleached white flour
1/2 cup peanut butter or other nut butter
1 cup water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Blend wheat flour and white flour in a bowl. Set aside.  Combine  vegetable oil, peanut butter, and  water.  Add flour, one cup at a time, forming a dough. You will need to blend the final flour by hand, kneading until a nice firm ball of dough is formed. (Takes a bit of kneading.) Let ball of dough stand for about 10 minutes to allow the gluten to relax. Makes for easier rolling.

Roll dough to about 1/4 inch thickness on a sheet of waxed paper. Cut with desired cutter. Re-roll scraps to make more biscuits. How many biscuits you get depends on the size of the cutter you use.  Score the tops of the cookies with a fork so the steam that builds up inside the cookies will release.

Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet for about 25 minutes, turning the pan a couple of times during baking. Cookies should be hard to the touch before removing from the oven. You may need to increase baking time. Do this in five minute increments. I usually have to bake about 30-35 minutes.
Allow to cool, then store in air-tight container. No refrigeration necessary.

ENJOY!

Easy Kitty Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 6 oz. can tuna
  • 1/2 Cup pre-cooked chicken meat
  • 2 Tsp Flour
  • Lactose free milk
Directions:

To make these homemade cat treats, drain the tuna, and combine with the chicken. Add flour and enough lactose free milk to make a biscuit type dough. Roll into a long rope-like shape and cut into bite sized pieces. Bake for 5-10 minutes at 250 degrees (F), checking frequently. When light brown, they are done. Cool and Purr!!!
